Client Experience

My husband and I moved to Florida when I was about 9 weeks pregnant. We were fortunate enough to find Virginia and knew right away she was the perfect "fit" for us. She has just the right balance of nurturing and professionalism while still maintaining a firm grip on the reality of pregnancy and birth.

Throughout my pregnancy she made me feel completely at ease with the process and what was happening to my body. I loved the personalized care and support that both myself and my husband received through this very special time in our lives and cannot recommend her enough.

Home Birth

  • The labor and birth of your baby are approached from a place of trust and love. I respect and honor the journey that you have chosen for yourself and your family.
  • When you call me in labor, we will decide together if it is the right time for me to go to your house. I will stay in your home until we all feel physically and emotionally adjusted to the miracle that we just experienced.
  • I bring all the necessary medical equipment with me to your house
  • I will carefully monitor your progress and intervene as little or as much as is necessary
  • Most supplies used during the birth will be put away
  • A post-partum plan will be in place before my departure
  • When your baby is born you will have the opporunity and right to welcome your baby into his new habitat; mommy’s chest.
  • Birthing pools are available for water birth.

Post Partum

  • Before I leave your house after the birth, we will have a plan in place for your post partum care. Depending on the day of the week and your birth, I will see you between 24-72 hrs after the birth. I will also come back after 2 weeks and at 6 weeks.
  • Physical, emotional, and spiritual adjustments are the focal points of these appointments. These appointments are very intimate in nature and the entire family usually participates. When family and friends are available, they are encouraged to "mother" the new mother.
  • It is my priority that, if you are planning to breastfeed your baby, you succeed with great enjoyment. I will make sure that I provide you with all the support you need. You will not only be calling your Midwife, you will be calling the mother of a baby who taught her a great deal about the emotional and physical difficulties that could be encountered when breastfeeding a newborn.
  • A pap smear and complete physical will be done 6 weeks post-partum.
